Overview

Lupitas Food Truck stands out as a vibrant gem in Panama City’s culinary scene, delivering authentic Mexican cuisine right from 535 N Tyndall Pkwy. This mobile eatery draws in locals and visitors looking for genuine street-style flavors, especially their renowned street tacos and quesadillas.

As a Mexican food enthusiast, it’s refreshing to find a place where tradition meets warmth and community. Lupitas Food Truck shines through the passion of its owners, who welcome customers with genuine hospitality. Patrons often describe the experience as personal and inviting, where the owners engage and even offer samples—a gesture that creates an intimate dining connection.

The street tacos here are a definitive highlight. Crafted with fresh ingredients, each taco balances textures and flavors—from the tender chicken bursting with juiciness to the well-seasoned steak, complemented by classic toppings like cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime. These flavors echo the authentic essence of Mexican street fare, resonating with those who appreciate simplicity done right.

While the quesadillas and quesobirria are popular choices, the latter shows room for growth. The quesobirria is generously loaded with melted cheese, yet some aspects of the birria meat and broth could benefit from a deeper, richer infusion of traditional spices to fully elevate the dish’s complexity. Nevertheless, the overall taste remains satisfying and highlights the food truck's commitment to comfort and flavor.

Lupitas Food Truck’s appeal extends beyond just the food. The atmosphere created by the truck’s location makes it an ideal quick stop for families, couples, and solo adventurers seeking a genuine Mexican bite without pretension. Many customers appreciate the convenience of grabbing a quick meal to enjoy on-the-go or in a casual setting like their car—a testament to the food’s quality outweighing the lack of formal dining space.

Notably, the food truck caters to a broad demographic, from casual diners craving authentic tacos to foodies eager to explore staple Mexican dishes with a fresh twist. The Saturday tamale offerings add a special weekend treat, deepening the truck’s connection to tradition.

In summary, Lupitas Food Truck is more than a place to eat; it’s a small-scale celebration of Mexican culinary heritage. Combining approachable service with flavorful, authentic dishes, it commands respect as one of Bay County’s top Mexican food destinations. Whether you're new to Mexican street food or a seasoned fan, Lupitas delivers an experience worth seeking out.

Delicious! Under new ownership. But still the same wonderful recipes. My favorite place to pop up real quick with my husband and sit in my car and eat.

All it took was one visit and both my boyfriend and I are HOOKED! The owners are super sweet! While waiting, he had us try samples of a couple of items. And of course they were awesome! You will not be disappointed with anything on their menu. So if you are passing through the area, definitely give them a try! The photo of my barbacoa tacos were from the Valley side of the menu and I requested grilled onions to be put on my tacos. They definitely have new followers! Why spend pretty much the same amount of money for Taco Bell, when you can get authentic, fresh and delicious tacos just down the road?

I just visited this place in the afternoon, eager for some good ol fashioned tacos—whether street or quesobirria. Their menu had many options, from Tortas, to burritos and the two things I came for. Well three. If you like sweet drinks, I suggest the Horchata. It’s what I always go for in every Mexican place I have gone. And I’ve gone to many. In this place it’s under the Agua Frescas option, but just ask the owners for the Horchata. They’ll know what you want, especially if you like cinnamon and a creamy drink in these hot days. Now for what I got, I went for the Steak Street Tacos and the Quesobirria tacos. I’m very picky and strict when it comes to Birria tacos, especially since I make my own and I have yet to find a worthy rival when it comes to flavor of my homemade Birria tacos in Panama City(Although the Mexican restaurant in Pier Park San Marcos might be a little better than mine ). While I was waiting for my food to get ready though, the owner and me got to talking about his food truck journey. Very personable and very friendly. Offering me samples of other meats that he has. And letting me give my honest opinion which I will include here in the review. The Barbacoa he let me try first. Now I’ve never been a fan of barbacoa. More the flavor than my mind knowing what it is. But for those who like it, would definitely enjoy his. It was very tender, melting in your mouth and he let most of the flavor go to the barbacoa itself instead of overlaying it with too much unnecessary spices. The Carnitas was something I’m familiar with since I’m a lover of pork and those who are as well will like it in their tacos. The Steak from the Steak Ranchero had some flavor, had good texture where it wasn’t too well done. And not that spicy at all unless the only condiments you use normally is mayo and salt. Although truthfully, I wish it did have a little more kick. The Chicken was the BEST one. Out of all the meats he had me try, that had the most flavor and was the juiciest out of all of them. Which I told him bluntly. Even the Birria meat he gave me as a sample paled in comparison to that chicken which is shocking but also very IMPRESSIVE. For the steak street tacos, they’re great. I added the red sauce and green sauce with some lime cause you can’t eat authentic Mexican tacos without lime(if you do, you’re a criminal). Classic, simplistic, flavorful with the onions and cilantro and just steak mixed with all that was very satisfying. As for the Quesobirria tacos, they went heavy with the queso. Gave a lot of love to the queso but not enough to the meat and the broth of the Birria that comes with the quesobirria tacos. As I’ve already said, the chicken alone had better flavor compared to the Birria meat he had me try. Even with the Birria meat mixed with the lime I put, the Birria broth, the onion and cilantro, it was clear the queso was carrying the taco. Which is disappointing. It wasn’t nasty or bad. It’s just the lack of flavor left much to be desired. Perhaps leaving the ancho peppers or guajillo peppers or whatever other Mexican dried peppers this particular truck uses to simmer in water more? And make sure the salt and pepper and spices like cumin and allspice in the broth. Also go hard in the garlic. The Quesobirria should have more flavor than simple street tacos. It might’ve been just a bad day for the quesobirria tacos however. My cousin got the Chicken in Salsa, which is no surprise, GREAT. Nothing like a big ol fat burrito with some very flavorful chicken for dinner. All in all, from this whole experience from the owners kindness and the food in general, I give it a 5/5. I hope this helps!
